**Tiruchi, February 20, 2025** – Coconut farmers in Tiruchi district have been urged to adopt modern technologies to boost production and income. Collector M. Pradeep Kumar, speaking at a seminar on coconut farming organized under the National Horticulture Mission, highlighted the importance of technological advancements in addressing emerging diseases and maximizing profits.

Tamil Nadu, the second-largest coconut producer in India, boasts over 5,000 hectares of coconut farms in Tiruchi alone. Mr. Kumar emphasized the need for farmers to focus on effective disease control, intercropping, value addition, and improved marketing strategies to enhance their earnings. He stressed the importance of understanding soil conditions and implementing appropriate technological solutions for sustainable and profitable cultivation.

The seminar, featuring faculty from the TNAU Horticulture College and Research Institute for Women, Tiruchi, provided farmers with valuable insights into various aspects of coconut farming. Joint Director of Agriculture B. Vasantha and Deputy Director of Agriculture S. Saranya also addressed the attendees. The event underscored the potential for increased income through the adoption of modern agricultural practices in the coconut farming sector.
