Thu Feb 20 13:20:00 UTC 2025: **FBI, Local Law Enforcement Thwart Planned School Attack in Texas**

HOUSTON, TX – Joint efforts by the FBI and local law enforcement agencies prevented a potential mass casualty attack at Memorial High School in Harris County, Texas. Two teenage girls, aged 15 and 16, were arrested Tuesday afternoon after the FBI received credible information about their plot to attack the school using pipe bombs and guns.

The FBI’s threat mitigation team quickly alerted local law enforcement in Montgomery County, Harris County, and the Spring Branch Independent School District (SBISD). Within 30 minutes of receiving the alert, both girls were apprehended. A 16-year-old Memorial High School student is charged with making a terroristic threat. The 15-year-old is in custody in Montgomery County on an unrelated charge.

While no weapons or bomb-making materials were immediately recovered, investigations are ongoing in both Harris and Montgomery Counties. Spring Branch ISD Chief Larry Baimbridge praised the swift and collaborative response, highlighting the effectiveness of state and federal partnerships. FBI Houston spokesman Connor Hagan echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the crucial role of the FBI’s threat mitigation team and the importance of inter-agency cooperation in preventing the attack. This incident follows a similar averted plot last week in Mooresville, Indiana, underscoring the ongoing threat and the vital work of law enforcement agencies in disrupting such plans.
