Wed Feb 19 15:30:00 UTC 2025: ## Kingda Ka’s Implosion Delayed by Stormy Weather

**Jackson, NJ –** The demolition of Kingda Ka, the once-world’s tallest and fastest roller coaster at Six Flags Great Adventure, has been temporarily delayed due to inclement weather. Originally scheduled for implosion between February 11th and 16th, heavy rain and high winds have forced a postponement, according to park officials.

While the exact new date remains undisclosed, crews had begun preparations for the implosion earlier this week. Six Flags is keeping the rescheduled date under wraps to avoid large gatherings and potential unauthorized recordings of the event.

Kingda Ka, a 456-foot-tall coaster reaching speeds of 128 mph, has been a park landmark since 2005. Its removal is part of a larger redevelopment plan that includes the demolition of other rides, such as Zumanjaro: Drop of Doom and Green Lantern, to make way for a new, record-breaking launch coaster slated to debut in 2026. The Parachute ride has already been removed.

The closure has sparked a wave of nostalgia on social media, with many sharing memories of the iconic coaster. However, anticipation is also high for the park’s upcoming attractions, including North America’s first super boomerang coaster, “The Flash: Vertical Velocity,” opening in 2025. Six Flags assures visitors that the new rides will maintain the park’s reputation for thrilling experiences.
