Wed Feb 19 00:00:00 UTC 2025: ## Tech-Infused Golf League, TGL, Kicks Off Inaugural Season
**NEW YORK, NY** – A revolutionary new team golf league, the TGL (Tech Golf League), has launched its inaugural season, featuring a unique blend of technology and traditional golf. The league pits six teams of three-player rosters against each other in a 15-hole match. The innovative format uses a massive 64ft x 53ft simulator, seamlessly integrated with a real, adjustable green.
The first nine holes are played as alternate shot, while the final six are singles matches. Players tee off from real grass tee boxes, with shots over 130 yards originating from a back box (35 yards from the screen) to simulate fairway, rough, and sand play. Shorter shots are played from a front box (21 yards from the screen). For shots within 50 yards, players transition to the adjusting green, which mirrors the ball’s simulator placement.
High-profile players, including Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy, Justin Thomas, and many others, compete in the league. The 2025 season features a round-robin format, with the top four teams advancing to the semifinals. Points are awarded for wins (two points) and overtime losses (one point).
The league’s opening weeks saw several dramatic matchups. The Bay GC, led by Ludvig Åberg, started strong with a dominant 9-2 victory over New York GC. Los Angeles GC, featuring Collin Morikawa, defeated Tiger Woods’ Jupiter Links GC 12-1. Subsequent weeks saw wins for Atlanta Drive GC and further thrilling matches. The season is being broadcast on ESPN and ESPN+. Tiger Woods’ return to competitive golf after his mother’s passing was a highlight of the Jupiter Links GC’s match against New York GC.
