**TIRUPATI, February 19, 2025** – The Andhra Pradesh State government has officially appointed Prof. Vennam Uma as the Vice-Chancellor of Sri Padmavati Mahila Viswa Vidyalayam (SPMVV), Tirupati. Prof. Uma, who has served as the in-charge Vice-Chancellor, will hold the position for a three-year term.
Prof. Uma has a long and distinguished history with SPMVV, having joined the university in 1983 as an assistant professor in the Department of Social Work. She rose through the ranks, becoming an associate professor in 1993 and a professor in 2001. Her 41 years of teaching experience also includes a previous stint as in-charge Vice-Chancellor from October 2018 to January 2020.
Her accolades include receiving the Commonwealth Academic Staff Scholarship from the University of East Anglia (UK) and the Andhra Pradesh government’s ‘Best Teacher award’ in 2014. The appointment marks a continuation of her leadership at the state’s only women’s university.
