Tue Feb 18 18:57:52 UTC 2025: ## Mumbai Indians Clinch Thrilling Victory Over Gujarat Giants in WPL Clash

**Vadodara, India:** Mumbai Indians stormed back to winning ways in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) with a commanding five-wicket victory over Gujarat Giants on Tuesday. All-rounder Nat Sciver-Brunt led the charge, delivering a match-winning performance with both bat and ball.

Sciver-Brunt first impressed with the ball, taking two wickets for 26 runs, contributing to Gujarat’s modest total of 120 all out. Tight bowling from the entire Mumbai unit, including Hayley Matthews (Player of the Match) who snagged three wickets, restricted Gujarat’s batting lineup. Harleen Deol’s 32 was the top score for Gujarat.

In response, Sciver-Brunt unleashed a breathtaking display of power hitting, smashing a 39-ball 57 – her second consecutive half-century – studded with 11 fours. Although she fell with seven runs still needed, Sajana S and debutant Kamalini G steered Mumbai to victory with 3.5 overs to spare, reaching 122 for 5.

Gujarat captain Ash Gardner acknowledged her team’s batting let them down, while praising the bowling and fielding efforts. Mumbai captain Harmanpreet Kaur expressed satisfaction with her team’s execution of their game plan, particularly their strong start with the ball. Sciver-Brunt attributed her success to a positive batting approach and a team focus on collective success.

This win moves Mumbai to 5-0 against Gujarat in their Women’s T20 League history and spoils Gujarat’s farewell game at their home ground. The next WPL match will see UP take on Delhi on Wednesday.
