**LOGAN, UT (February 18, 2025)** – Utah State University’s Department of Geosciences is thrilled to announce its annual Rock-n-Fossil Day, a free event open to the public on February 22nd from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Families are invited to explore the fascinating world of geology at the Geology Building on the USU Quad.
This year’s event promises a variety of engaging activities for all ages. Attendees can participate in hands-on demonstrations, including learning about earthquakes, ancient Lake Bonneville, and groundwater. Experts will be on hand to identify rocks, fossils, and potential meteorites brought in by visitors. Children will enjoy fossil-digging simulations and craft activities. The USU Museum of Geology will also be open for tours. Presentations by the Cache Rock and Gem Club are also scheduled.
Department Head Dennis Newell expressed enthusiasm for the event, stating, “We look forward to Rock-n-Fossil Day all year long, welcoming the community to a day of geoscience learning.”
The Geology Building is located at the northeast corner of the USU Quad. Free parking is available in university parking terraces, and attendees can also utilize the zero-fare Connect Public Transit buses.
