Wed Feb 19 15:47:58 UTC 2025: ## BJP to Announce Delhi’s Next Chief Minister Today

**New Delhi, India** – The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is poised to announce the next Chief Minister of Delhi today. Sources suggest the party will likely select a leader from the Baniya community, a significant voting bloc in the capital. Top contenders include Vijender Gupta, Rekha Gupta, and Jitender Mahajan, all prominent Baniya leaders within the BJP.

Newly elected BJP MLAs will meet at the party’s Delhi unit office to elect their leader, after which the central observers will make the official announcement.

Vijender Gupta, a veteran leader and former Delhi BJP president, is a strong contender, having successfully retained his seat despite the Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) dominance. Rekha Gupta, a veteran RSS-backed leader, is another frontrunner, with speculation suggesting the BJP may opt for a woman CM. Jitender Mahajan, a three-time MLA, is also in the running.

The Baniya community’s influence is considered crucial to the BJP’s recent victory, ending AAP’s decade-long rule. Interestingly, AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal also belongs to this community.

Other potential candidates include Parvesh Verma, who defeated Arvind Kejriwal in the New Delhi constituency; Ashish Sood, a key Punjabi leader; and Virendra Sachdeva, the Delhi BJP president.

A grand swearing-in ceremony is scheduled for February 20th at Ramlila Ground, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other dignitaries expected to attend. This marks the BJP’s return to power in Delhi after 27 years.
