MUMBAI, INDIA (February 18, 2025) – Vicky Kaushal’s period drama “Chhaava” continues its impressive box office run, despite a slight dip in collections on Monday. While experiencing a reported 50% drop on Monday, the film rebounded on Tuesday, grossing an estimated ₹24.50 crore in India, bringing its five-day total to ₹165 crore. This strong performance positions “Chhaava” to potentially overtake the current 2025 box office champion, Venkatesh Daggubati’s “Sankranthiki Vasthunam,” which has earned ₹216.73 crore in India. “Chhaava” is currently just ₹51.73 crore away from surpassing this record.

The film, directed by Laxman Utekar and also starring Akshaye Khanna and Rashmika Mandanna, opened with a strong ₹31 crore on its first day. Further boosting its prospects is the upcoming Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti public holiday in Maharashtra on Wednesday, February 19th, which is expected to drive further ticket sales. Tuesday saw a 26.12% Hindi occupancy rate nationally, with Pune reporting the highest at 61.67%. The film’s success comes despite an incident where a drunk man reportedly damaged a theatre screen during a screening in Gujarat’s Bharuch.
