NAGERCOIL, INDIA (February 19, 2025) – The sixth annual Nagercoil Book Fair opened Wednesday, featuring lively “Parai” music and a strong emphasis on the importance of reading. Organized by the Kanniyakumari district administration and the Booksellers and Publishers Association of South India (BAPASI), the fair, held on the campus of S.L.B. School, will run until March 1st.
Kanniyakumari Collector R. Alagumeena inaugurated the event, drawing parallels between renowned readers Warren Buffett and Bill Gates to highlight the continued importance of reading even after achieving success. She urged parents to instill a love of reading in their children from a young age and encouraged individuals to read extensively in their fields of expertise. Ms. Alagumeena also recommended “The Power of Positive Thinking” by Norman Vincent Peale as an inspirational read.
Superintendent of Police R. Stalin echoed these sentiments, urging students to disconnect from social media and embrace the benefits of reading for broadening perspectives and achieving success. The event was also attended by several other local officials, including the Nagercoil Corporation Mayor and Commissioner.
