Tue Feb 18 19:35:33 UTC 2025: ## AIADMK Protests Rise in Sexual Offenses Against Women and Children in Tamil Nadu
**Chennai, February 19, 2025** – The AIADMK’s student wing staged a protest in Chennai on Tuesday, condemning the ruling DMK government’s alleged inaction on the rising number of sexual offenses against women and children in Tamil Nadu. The protestors, wearing black and blindfolded, gathered at Valluvarkottam, led by former Minister B. Valarmathi and student wing leader Singai G. Ramachandran.
The protest aimed to pressure the DMK government into taking stronger action against perpetrators. AIADMK national spokesperson Mr. Sathiyan criticized the government, highlighting the alleged vulnerability of even women in the state police force, citing the recent suspension of a senior official for alleged sexual harassment.
Mr. Ramachandran claimed a sharp increase in such crimes, citing 63 incidents involving school and college-going girls in the last 100 days alone. He stated that the number of sexual abuse cases involving students has risen by 40-50% in the past two years, accusing the DMK government of complacency.
