**New Delhi, February 18, 2025** – The Ministry of External Affairs announced today the appointment of Suresh K. Reddy as India’s next Ambassador to Egypt. Reddy, a 1991 batch Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer, currently serves as India’s Ambassador to Brazil.
His distinguished career includes postings in Cairo, Muscat, Abu Dhabi, and Islamabad, as well as serving as Ambassador to Iraq and ASEAN. He also held key positions within the Ministry of External Affairs, including heading the Multilateral Economic Relations Division and serving as India’s Sous Sherpa to various international forums like the G20, G7, BRICS, and IBSA. His experience further encompasses roles as Special Envoy to Iraq and engagement with neighboring countries such as Bangladesh, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, and the Maldives. Reddy was instrumental in establishing the BIMSTEC Secretariat.
Reddy is expected to assume his new posting shortly. The announcement marks a significant diplomatic move for India, strengthening its ties with a key nation in the Arab world.
