**Chennai, February 18, 2025** – Residents of Chinnasekkadu in Chennai continued their protest outside the Chennai Corporation’s Bio-CNG plant on Manali High Road for a second day on Monday. The protests, sparked by an explosion at the plant late on February 15th, center on allegations of air pollution and foul odors emanating from the facility, causing respiratory problems and other health complications for nearby residents.
A.V. Jayakrishna, a local resident and advocate, stated that the protests will continue until the plant’s operations are halted by its third-party partner. He emphasized the need to prevent similar projects from being situated in residential areas. The protestors eventually dispersed following discussions with Chennai City Police.
