Tue Feb 18 16:45:51 UTC 2025: ## Madurai Mason Sentenced to Life Imprisonment for Mother’s Murder
**Madurai, February 18, 2025** – A mason, P. Malaichamy alias Bose, was sentenced to life imprisonment by the Fifth Additional District Court in Madurai on Tuesday for the murder of his mother, Mookammal, in 2016. The court also imposed a fine of ₹2,000.
According to the prosecution, Malaichamy murdered his 65-year-old mother after she refused to give him the family property. He argued with her, then doused her in kerosene and set her alight. Mookammal was admitted to Government Rajaji Hospital with severe burn injuries but later succumbed to them. Judge S. Joseph Joy presided over the case.
