**Ludhiana, [State] –** A local Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader, Anokh Mittal (35), has been arrested along with his girlfriend and four alleged contract killers in connection with the murder of his wife, Lipsy Mittal (33), also an AAP leader. Lipsy Mittal was killed on Saturday night near a village on the Ludhiana-Malerkotla road, ostensibly during a robbery. However, police investigations revealed Anokh Mittal as the key conspirator.

According to Police Commissioner Kuldeep Singh Chahal, Mittal, a businessman, plotted his wife’s murder after she discovered his extramarital affair with his 24-year-old girlfriend, who has also been arrested. Four contract killers – Amritpal Singh, Gurdeep Singh, Sonu Singh, and Sagardeep Singh – were hired to carry out the killing. Three of the killers are from the nearby village of Nandpur, while one is from Dhandari Kalan. Police have recovered Rs 50,000, an advance payment from Mittal’s promised Rs 2.5 lakh fee to the killers. The alleged mastermind of the contract killer gang, Gurpreet Singh, remains at large. Investigations are ongoing.
