GANNAVARAM, Andhra Pradesh – A fire broke out at a private orphanage in Gannavaram, Krishna district, early Tuesday morning, injuring six children. Four sustained minor burns, while two others were hospitalized for smoke inhalation. All children have since been discharged from the Government General Hospital (GGH) in stable condition.

The fire, which started around 1:30 a.m. at the Rural Education and Compassionate Helps (REACH) orphanage, quickly engulfed beds, furniture, and other belongings. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

Police officers on night patrol spotted the flames and immediately alerted the fire department and local police. Fire tenders arrived swiftly and extinguished the blaze. All 140 children residing in the two-story building were safely evacuated with the assistance of local residents.

Officials from the Juvenile Welfare Department, Child Welfare Committee, and local government agencies visited the site. A case has been registered, and investigations are underway to determine the cause of the fire. The orphanage correspondent stated that all children were safely relocated. The situation is currently under control, according to fire officials.
