Tue Feb 18 12:48:40 UTC 2025: ## Supreme Court Grants Ranveer Allahbadia Relief, But Issues Stern Warning
**Mumbai, India** – YouTube personality Ranveer Allahbadia, known as “BeerBiceps,” received a mixed ruling from the Supreme Court on Tuesday regarding multiple police cases filed against him for his comments on parents and sex during a stand-up show. While the court prevented further police actions and granted him protection from arrest, it also delivered a sharp rebuke and imposed significant restrictions.
Allahbadia, who claimed to have received death threats, was granted interim protection from arrest by Maharashtra and Assam police, provided he cooperates with ongoing investigations. He was ordered to deposit his passport with Thane police and prohibited from leaving the country without court permission. Furthermore, he is barred from participating in any stand-up comedy or roast shows until further notice.
The Supreme Court’s decision came after a heated hearing where Justice Surya Kant and Justice N Kotiswar Singh expressed strong disapproval of Allahbadia’s comments, deeming them obscene and deeply offensive. The court questioned the YouTuber’s actions, emphasizing the embarrassment caused to his parents and society as a whole. Justice Kant stated, “If this is not obscenity in this country, then what is?!”
While acknowledging the death threats and promising legal protection against them, the court sharply criticized Allahbadia’s behavior and his apparent belief that his popularity granted him immunity from consequences.
The court also directed the central government to respond regarding guidelines for obscene content on social media. Multiple investigations are currently underway, involving Mumbai, Guwahati, and the Maharashtra Cyber Department police. Two other individuals involved in the show, Samay Raima and Apoorva Makhija, along with social media influencer Ashish Chanchalani, have also faced threats and are named in police complaints.
Following the controversy, Allahbadia issued multiple apologies, acknowledging his inappropriate remarks and expressing remorse for misusing his platform. Despite the apologies, the court’s strong condemnation underlines the gravity of the situation. The Supreme Court’s decision leaves Allahbadia with temporary reprieve, but under a cloud of strong censure and significant restrictions on his future activities.
