**Kozhikode, Kerala – February 18, 2025** – A Class VIII student and football player sustained serious ear drum injuries after being assaulted by a group of students following a dispute at a school ground in Payyoli, Kozhikode district, earlier this month.
The incident occurred on February 1st during a school training event. A verbal altercation between two groups of students escalated into a physical attack on the Class VIII student as he was leaving. A video circulating online shows the student being beaten while pleading for the attackers to stop.
The student’s family reported the incident to the Payyoli police station on February 3rd, but claim no case was registered. Doctors have confirmed the ear drum damage and advised three months of rest.
Police officials stated that no case could be filed because all involved are juveniles. Details of the students’ backgrounds have been submitted to the Juvenile Justice Board, which will hold a hearing on February 19th in Kozhikode city.
