**Mumbai, February 18** – The historical action film *Chhaava*, starring Vicky Kaushal and Rashmika Mandanna, has stormed the box office, raking in over ₹140 crore in its first four days. The film, which opened to critical acclaim and positive audience reviews, saw a slight dip on its first Monday (February 17th), collecting approximately ₹24 crore net, according to Sacnilk. However, this still brings its four-day total to over ₹140.50 crore.
*Chhaava* shattered previous Valentine’s Day box office records on its opening day, earning ₹31 crore – surpassing *Gully Boy*’s previous record of ₹19.40 crore. The film enjoyed a strong weekend, collecting ₹37 crore on Saturday and ₹48.5 crore on Sunday. This remarkable performance positions *Chhaava* as one of the highest-grossing films of 2025 so far.
Lead actor Vicky Kaushal, in an interview with ANI, described portraying Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj as his “most challenging role” to date. He highlighted the significant physical and mental preparation required to authentically depict the historical figure, encompassing both his physical appearance and understanding of the era. Kaushal emphasized the discipline needed for such a role, noting the commitment spanned a year and a half to two years.
*Chhaava*, directed by Laxman Utekar, also stars Akshay Khanna and Diana Penty in pivotal roles, with music and background score by A.R. Rahman. The film portrays Kaushal as Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj and Mandanna as his wife, Yesubai Bhosale, with Khanna and Penty playing Aurangzeb and his daughter, respectively.
