**Chennai, February 18, 2025** – N. Kumar, Chairman of the Sanmar group, was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Humanitarian Awards 2025 ceremony held Monday at the Sheraton Grand Chennai resort. The award, presented by Palki Sharma, Managing Editor of Firstpost, recognized Kumar’s significant contributions to promoting inclusivity and advancing children’s rights.

Sharma emphasized the crucial role of society in building an inclusive environment for marginalized groups, including transgender individuals and people with disabilities. The awards ceremony, now in its sixth year, also celebrated other individuals and organizations dedicated to humanitarian work.

Dr. Rekha Ramachandran, Co-Founder and Chairperson of the Down’s Syndrome Federation of India, received an award for excellence in destigmatizing genetic disorders. Several health professionals, including T.S. Surendran (Sankara Nethralaya), Mohan Kameswaran (Madras ENT Research Foundation), P. Venkat (Apollo Proton Centre), and Maya Varadarajan (TTK Hospital), were recognized for their contributions to health philanthropy and rehabilitation.

Other awardees included social entrepreneurs Meena Dadha and Divya Vigneshwaran (Hasta Foundation), social media influencer Samar Jeet Singh, Ved Chikramane (Kivvy project), and Uday Kumar and Akshada of Swaamy Estates. Activist Apsara Reddy, curator of the awards, also distributed scholarships to animal rights activist Mahi Mahesh and Sumithra Prasad of the DORAI Foundation. The event highlighted the diverse range of humanitarian efforts underway in the region.
