Tue Feb 18 10:10:00 UTC 2025: ## Sub-Zero Wind Chills to Slam Western Pennsylvania Tuesday Morning

**Pittsburgh, PA** – Western Pennsylvania is bracing for dangerously cold temperatures Tuesday morning, prompting a cold weather advisory for several counties. The National Weather Service has declared Tuesday an “Impact Day” due to wind chills expected to plummet to between -5° and -15° Fahrenheit before 9 a.m.

A cold weather advisory is in effect from 10 p.m. Monday to 10 a.m. Tuesday for Armstrong, Butler, Clarion, and Indiana counties, as well as higher elevations in Fayette and Westmoreland counties. The advisory warns of the potential for hypothermia and frostbite.

While precipitation has cleared, drier air and brisk winds will combine with single-digit temperatures to create the sub-zero wind chills. The coldest wind chills are expected early Tuesday, before gradually warming to highs in the low 20s throughout the rest of the week. Lows will remain in the low teens through Friday.

A slight chance of light snow showers is possible on Thursday, but otherwise, the remainder of the week is expected to remain dry and cold. Residents are urged to take precautions to protect themselves from the extreme cold, including dressing in layers and limiting time spent outdoors.
