**Pudukottai, Tamil Nadu, February 18, 2025** – A 58-year-old assistant headmaster of a government high school in Arimalalm block, Pudukottai district, was arrested on Monday under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. He is accused of sexually assaulting several female students.
The arrest followed an inquiry by the District Child Protection Officer and the District Social Welfare Officer, prompted by complaints from the affected girls. Officials stated that the alleged abuse had been ongoing for approximately two months. A case worker from the District Child Protection Unit filed a formal complaint, leading to the arrest.
The Tirumayam All Women Police registered a case against the assistant headmaster under sections 9(f) and 10 of the POCSO Act, and section 75 of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act. The investigation is ongoing.
