Sun Feb 16 21:10:00 UTC 2025: ## UCLA Tops NCAA Women’s Basketball Top 16 Reveal
**SPOKANE, WA –** The NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Committee released its first top-16 seedings for the 2025 tournament on Sunday, revealing UCLA as the number one overall seed despite a recent loss. South Carolina, Texas, and Notre Dame round out the top four seeds.
The announcement, aired on ESPN, provides an early glimpse into the potential bracket ahead of Selection Sunday on March 16th. The SEC dominated the rankings, boasting two number one seeds and six teams among the top 16, securing them the right to host first- and second-round games.
The top 16 teams are distributed across two regional sites: Birmingham, Alabama, and Spokane, Washington. The committee chair, Derita Dawkins, expressed confidence in the top four selections.
Other notable seeds include LSU, UConn, and NC State as number two seeds; TCU, Duke, and North Carolina as number three seeds; and Kentucky, Ohio State, Oklahoma, and Tennessee as number four seeds. Interestingly, Notre Dame secured a higher seed than Texas despite losing to the Longhorns earlier in the season.
Twelve of the top 16 teams played on Sunday, including several head-to-head matchups. A second top-16 reveal is scheduled for February 27th on ESPN2. The tournament’s regional rounds will, for the third year running, be played at these two sites.
