**SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA** – Acclaimed South Korean actress Kim Sae-ron was found dead at her Seoul home on Sunday, police confirmed. She was 24 years old. A friend discovered her body; police reported no signs of foul play, and are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding her death.

Kim, who began her acting career as a child, rose to prominence with roles in films such as “A Brand New Life” (2009), “The Man from Nowhere” (2010), and “A Girl at My Door” (2014). Her work earned her international recognition, including an appearance at the Cannes Film Festival. More recently, she starred in the Netflix K-drama “Bloodhounds” (2023).

Her career, however, had been impacted since April 2023 following a drunk driving conviction. While she avoided jail time, she was fined approximately $14,000.

Tributes poured in from fellow Korean celebrities following the news. Actor Kim Ok-bin posted a photo of a white chrysanthemum, a symbol of mourning, while Kim Min-che, Kim Sae-ron’s co-star in “The Neighbors,” shared a poignant message remembering their time working together.

Kim’s death adds to a growing list of young K-pop idols and K-drama stars who have died in recent years, raising concerns about mental health pressures within South Korea’s highly competitive entertainment industry. The intense public scrutiny and expectations placed on these performers have prompted calls for greater support and awareness.
