**Mangaluru, February 16, 2025** – The Karnataka Yakshagana Academy bestowed its prestigious awards upon several prominent figures in the traditional art form on Sunday. Mambadi Subrahmanya Bhat of Bantwal received the coveted Parthi Subba Award for 2024, recognizing his contributions as a Bhagavatha, Chande-Maddale player, and Yakshagana Guru of the Thenku Thittu school. The award included a ₹1 lakh cash prize and a citation.
Several other artists received accolades. The academy’s honorary award, carrying a ₹50,000 purse and citation, was presented to five artists representing various schools and roles within Yakshagana. Additionally, numerous artists were awarded the Yaksha Siri award (₹25,000 and citation), and Kargallu Vishweshwar Bhat received the Karki Hiriya Paramayya Hasyagara Endowment Award (₹25,000 and citation).
Academy chairman Talluru Shivarama Shetty announced plans to produce documentaries on senior artists Bannanje Sanjeeva Suvarna and Aruva Koragappa Shetty. The ceremony, held in Udupi, celebrated the rich tradition and diverse talent within the Yakshagana community.
