**Chennai, February 17, 2025** – Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, L. Murugan, asserted on Sunday that the youth of Tamil Nadu are rejecting the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK)’s “fake promises” and aspire for global competitiveness, aligning with the goals of the National Education Policy (NEP).
Speaking to reporters in Chennai, Mr. Murugan stated that the NEP, implemented after extensive consultations with educationists and academicians, caters to this ambition. He emphasized the policy’s focus on mother tongue learning.
Regarding the PM SHRI scheme, the minister reiterated Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s statement that the Centre will provide comprehensive support and funding upon fulfillment of all scheme conditions.
Addressing concerns about the alleged blocking of the Vikatan website, a Tamil media house, Mr. Murugan confirmed that legal action has been initiated. He contrasted the current generation’s aspirations with past political strategies, stating, “This is not 1965; the youth of today want to be globally competitive.”
