**Mumbai, February 16, 2025** – The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) officially announced the schedule for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season today. The tournament will begin on March 21st and conclude on May 25th, featuring 74 matches across ten teams.

Defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will face Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the opening match at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Other notable early fixtures include Sunrisers Hyderabad versus Rajasthan Royals, and a highly anticipated clash between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings on March 23rd at Chepauk.

This year will see some venue changes, with Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Capitals playing all their home games away from their usual stadiums. Delhi Capitals will play two home matches in Vizag, while the Rajasthan Royals’ alternative venue is yet to be confirmed, with Guwahati speculated. The Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in Hyderabad will host Qualifier 1 and the Eliminator, while the final will be held at Eden Gardens.

The BCCI also revealed new player regulations for the 2025-2027 seasons, finalized today at a Governing Council meeting in Bengaluru following discussions with franchise owners.
