Sun Feb 16 20:20:00 UTC 2025: **NASCAR Drivers Return to Former Teams After Seeking New Opportunities**
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – NASCAR drivers Justin Haley and Zane Smith are back with their former teams, Spire Motorsports and Front Row Motorsports, respectively, after brief stints elsewhere. Both drivers cited a return to familiar territory as the best option for their careers.
Haley, who secured Spire Motorsports’ first Cup Series win five years ago, left the team to pursue other opportunities. However, he’s now returned, citing the team’s significant improvements and positive vision for the future. Spire Motorsports’ Competition Director, Ryan Sparks, acknowledged the team’s evolution since Haley’s previous departure.
Smith, who won a Truck Series title with Front Row Motorsports in 2022, also left the team before receiving a text from owner Bob Jenkins offering a return. He described the return as a “reunion” and expressed confidence in the team’s upward trajectory, echoed by fellow driver Noah Gragson.
Both drivers acknowledge the challenges their teams faced at the recent Daytona Duel races, with Haley starting Sunday’s race in 35th and Smith in 37th. Despite this, they remain optimistic about the season ahead with their respective teams. A wind advisory is in effect from midnight tonight until noon Monday, with west winds expected to reach 20-30 mph, gusting up to 55 mph.
