ELURU, Andhra Pradesh – February 14, 2025 – A case has been registered against former YSRCP MLA Kotaru Abbaya Chowdary following an alleged assault on TDP MLA Chinthamani Prabhakar. The incident occurred Wednesday night following a wedding ceremony near Eluru.
According to police reports, a confrontation erupted between Chowdary and Prabhakar’s driver and gunman after the ceremony. Chowdary allegedly attacked Prabhakar’s driver and gunman, prompting a complaint to be filed at the Eluru Three Town Police Station.
The complaint, filed by Prabhakar’s driver, alleges that Chowdary’s actions constituted an attempt on the MLA’s life. The police have registered a case against Chowdary under various sections of the law, including those related to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
Following the incident, tensions rose in Denduluru, with supporters of both TDP and YSRCP gathering near the respective homes of the involved MLAs. Police deployed a heavy contingent to prevent further escalation of violence. MLA Chinthamani Prabhakar has also filed a complaint with the Eluru district SP, providing evidence related to the incident. The investigation is ongoing.
