**Orlando, FL** – Two-time major champion Xander Schauffele has announced his intended return to the PGA Tour at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, beginning March 6th. The world number 2 has been sidelined since injuring his rib cage during the off-season, suffering what he described as an acute intercostal strain/micro tear.
Schauffele, who won both the PGA Championship and the British Open in 2024, played through the pain at the Sentry Tournament of Champions in January, finishing 30th. However, the injury worsened, forcing him to withdraw from several subsequent tournaments, including the American Express, two TGL matches, the Farmers Insurance Open (his hometown event), and the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. He also missed this week’s Genesis Invitational.
“I underestimated how much it was bothering me,” Schauffele admitted. He explained that he’s prioritizing a full recovery to avoid further setbacks, stating, “The worst thing you can do is come back too soon.”
The golfer has been gradually increasing his practice regimen, aiming for a comfortable four 18-hole rounds before tournament play. While he initially hoped to return sooner, he’s now focusing on being fully fit for the Masters Tournament and the Players Championship. The three-week gap between the Genesis Invitational and the Arnold Palmer Invitational will provide valuable preparation time.
“I’m losing my mind sitting at home watching everybody compete,” Schauffele said, “But I’m taking the long view. I’m looking years down the road versus me being in the mix right now.” His cautious approach reflects a commitment to long-term health and continued success on the PGA Tour.
