Sun Feb 16 00:10:00 UTC 2025: ## Uttarakhand Woman Injected with HIV-Infected Needle by In-laws Over Dowry
**Haridwar, Uttarakhand:** In a shocking incident, a young woman in Uttarakhand was allegedly injected with an HIV-infected needle by her in-laws after they demanded additional dowry. The incident came to light after the woman’s father approached the local court.
According to the victim’s father, his daughter married Abhishek alias Sachin from Haridwar in February 2023. A dowry of ₹15 lakh was given at the time of the wedding. However, the in-laws later demanded an additional ₹25 lakh to purchase a Scorpio car. When the family refused, the woman was driven out of her home. After intervention by village elders, she was sent back, but the harassment continued.
The in-laws allegedly subjected the woman to both physical and mental abuse, eventually plotting to murder her, allegedly to marry their son off to someone else. As part of this alleged plot, they injected her with an HIV-infected needle. The woman’s deteriorating health led to a hospital visit, where she was diagnosed with HIV. Tests on her husband, Abhishek, were negative.
Following this revelation, the victim’s family filed a police complaint. However, due to a lack of action, the victim approached the local court. The court then ordered the Gangoh Kotwali police to file a case against Abhishek, his parents, and other family members under various sections including dowry harassment, assault, and attempted murder. An investigation is currently underway.
