Sat Feb 15 16:19:33 UTC 2025: ## Karnataka Minister Accuses Congress of Mismanaging Jal Jeevan Mission Funds

**Mysuru, February 15, 2025** – Union Minister of State for Railways and Jal Shakti, V. Somanna, has accused the Karnataka Congress government of mismanaging funds allocated for the Jal Jeevan Mission, a national program aimed at providing clean drinking water to rural households. Responding to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s criticism of inadequate central funding, Mr. Somanna countered that the Congress government’s performance is poor and that it consistently blames the central government for its failures.

Mr. Somanna cited the Jal Jeevan Mission’s low ranking (22nd out of 34 states) as evidence of mismanagement. He took to X (formerly Twitter) to criticize the state government’s handling of the project, accusing them of prioritizing blame-shifting over effective implementation. He further stated that the Centre is prepared to cooperate with the state to improve the program’s implementation and prevent any misuse of funds. He asserted that Prime Minister Modi is committed to ensuring that funds reach those in need.

Mr. Somanna dismissed Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s claims as “lies” and pledged to provide data and statistics to refute them publicly. The minister’s statement highlights a growing political conflict over the implementation of the Jal Jeevan Mission in Karnataka.
