**New Delhi, February 16, 2025** – The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is investigating an incident where several passengers were filmed jumping over automatic fare collection (AFC) gates at the Jama Masjid metro station. A 52-second video, which has gone viral online, shows passengers bypassing the gates amid cheers and filming.
The incident, which occurred on Thursday, February 13th, was attributed by DMRC to a temporary surge in passenger numbers. While DMRC maintains that security personnel were present and the situation remained under control, the corporation considers the actions a breach of law and order.
Anuj Dayal, the DMRC’s principal executive director (corporate communications), confirmed an investigation is underway to prevent similar incidents. The DMRC is also working with police authorities to file a First Information Report (FIR).
