**PALAKKAD, February 16, 2025** – A fire broke out in a medicine storage room at Palakkad District Hospital early Sunday morning, prompting the evacuation of several patients. The blaze, which started around 3:00 AM, was contained within half an hour by the fire brigade.
The fire originated in a ground-floor storage room adjacent to a women’s ward and surgical ICU. Smoke filled the area, leading to the precautionary evacuation of patients from those wards. No injuries have been reported.
Initial investigations suggest that a short circuit caused the fire. Police are continuing their investigation.
