**New Delhi, February 16, 2025** – At least 18 people were killed and dozens injured in a stampede at New Delhi Railway Station on Saturday, February 15, 2025. The incident occurred on platforms 14 and 15, where a large crowd had gathered to board trains heading to Prayagraj for the Maha Kumbh Mela.

According to Delhi Police, who launched an investigation Sunday, the stampede may have been triggered by a faulty platform announcement causing confusion among passengers. Acting Delhi Chief Minister Atishi reported that 15 bodies, including 14 women and five minors (two under 10), were brought to Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Hospital. An additional 15 injured individuals are receiving treatment, with heavy police deployment at the hospital.
