**KOCHI, February 16, 2025** – Heavy vehicle traffic will soon face restrictions on the Aroor-Thuravur stretch of NH 66 in Kerala due to elevated highway construction. A meeting chaired by PWD Secretary K. Biju on Saturday decided to divert heavy vehicles onto alternative routes managed by the PWD and local bodies. ₹8 crore has been allocated for upgrading these alternative roads. Specific detours have been planned for buses from Ernakulam (via Arookutty) and Alappuzha (via TD High School Junction in Thuravur), while heavy vehicles from Thrissur will be directed to use MC Road. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) will fund awareness campaigns and provide necessary police and traffic personnel. The Ernakulam and Alappuzha District Collectors attended the meeting.
