**Malappuram, Kerala –** Kerala’s Leader of the Opposition, V.D. Satheesan, has sharply criticized the central government’s offer of a ₹590 crore loan for the rehabilitation of Wayanad landslide victims, calling it an “insult” to the state. Speaking in Perinthalmanna on Saturday, Mr. Satheesan stated that Kerala had requested a ₹2,000 crore aid package, not a loan, to address the aftermath of the July 30, 2024, disaster. He questioned the BJP state president’s assertion that the loan should be repaid over 50 years and accused the central government of discriminatory practices, citing aid provided to other states affected by natural disasters like Himachal Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.
Mr. Satheesan also criticized the government’s handling of a CSR scam, arguing that innocent individuals, including a respected High Court judge, Justice C.N. Ramanchandran Nair, were wrongly implicated. He demanded a thorough investigation into the scam, including the potential involvement of Electricity Minister K. Krishnankutty’s personal assistant. He emphasized that the focus should be on bringing the real culprits to justice, not on prosecuting innocent victims.
