**Puducherry, February 16, 2025** – The United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) has announced a protest in Puducherry on February 21st to pressure the Union government to address several key demands. The UFBU, representing nine bank employees’ associations, is seeking the filling of vacant posts in public sector banks, regularization of temporary employees’ services, and resolution of outstanding issues with the Indian Banks’ Association (IBA).
Further demands include amending the Gratuity Act to raise the ceiling to ₹25 lakh, mirroring the government employee scheme and including tax exemption. A five-day work week and adequate recruitment across all cadres are also on the agenda. The protest aims to highlight these concerns to the central government.
