**Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, February 16, 2025** – The Telugu film industry mourns the loss of legendary actress, producer, and singer Krishnaveni, who passed away early this morning at the age of 100. Krishnaveni, a pioneering figure in Telugu cinema, breathed her last at 4:00 AM due to age-related illness.

Born on December 24, 1924, in Pangidi village, West Godavari district, Krishnaveni’s journey began on stage. Her acting debut at the age of ten in the play “Thulabharam” led to her selection for the lead role in the film “Anasuya,” marking the start of a remarkable career spanning several decades.

Beyond her acting prowess, Krishnaveni was a prolific singer, often lending her voice to her own films. Notably, she even provided playback singing for Anjali Devi in “Keelugurram.” Her career saw her transition into production, establishing Shobhanachala Studios and producing several influential films. She is credited with launching the careers of several prominent figures, including the legendary NTR (Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao), whom she introduced to the silver screen in “Mana Desam.” She also played a key role in launching the careers of Ghantasala and Ramesh Naidu as music directors, P. Leela and Jikki as playback singers, and Erra Apparao as a director. She also famously played a vamp role in “Thirugu Batu,” showcasing her versatility.

Krishnaveni achieved immense popularity through her roles in films like “Lakshmamma” and “Golla Bhaama,” often competing with simultaneous releases featuring other leading actresses of the time. She was known for commanding one of the highest salaries among female actors of her era.

Known for her contributions both in front of and behind the camera, Krishnaveni’s legacy extends to her daughter, Anuratha Devi, who also became a successful film producer.
