**COIMBATORE, February 15, 2025** – A new wave of shock has hit Pollachi, Tamil Nadu, following the arrest of four individuals, including three minors, for the serial sexual assault of three minor victims. The assaults, which occurred over several months, involved the repeated sexual abuse of two girls and a boy from the same village, with the perpetrators filming the acts.
Police, acting on a complaint filed through ChildLine, arrested three juvenile boys and an 18-year-old man on Friday. One additional juvenile suspect remains at large. The victims were allegedly attacked with thorny sticks when they resisted.
According to Coimbatore District (Rural) Superintendent of Police K. Karthikeyan, the investigation is ongoing. The 18-year-old has been remanded to Coimbatore Central Prison, while the juvenile suspects are in an observation home. The case has been registered under various sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
The incident comes amidst lingering repercussions from a high-profile 2019 sexual assault case in the same area. The delay in reporting by the victims’ parents, who reportedly hesitated to file a complaint initially, highlights ongoing challenges in addressing such crimes.
