**Kozhikode, Kerala – February 15, 2025** – The Kerala government will pursue strong legal action following the deaths of three people in a tusker rampage at the Manakkulangara Bhagavathi Temple in Kuruvangad on Thursday. Forest and Wildlife Minister A.K. Saseendran announced the action after visiting the temple and the families of the victims on Saturday.

The minister stated that the action will be based on a district administration report indicating violations of the Kerala Captive Elephants (Management and Maintenance) Rules and a lack of care in conducting fireworks during the festival. The report suggests that these factors contributed to the incident where two elephants went berserk.

Mr. Saseendran was accompanied by Koyilandy Municipal chairperson Sudha Kizhakkeeppad and other representatives. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
