**KOCHI, February 13, 2025** – Engineering students from Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) have presented innovative technological solutions to enhance the capabilities of the Kochi City Police. The proposals, showcased at a workshop on Wednesday, address key areas including smart night patrols, real-time crime tracking, improved video surveillance, data-driven performance evaluation, and advanced methods for detecting chemicals and illegal drugs.
Students also offered solutions for crime pattern analysis, predictive policing, traffic management, and secure digital record-keeping. CUSAT faculty members stated that shortlisted ideas will undergo further screening on February 19, with the possibility of police funding or external funding secured to implement the most promising proposals.
The initiative aims to foster collaboration between academia and law enforcement, providing students with a platform to contribute their skills and expertise to enhance public safety.
