**Mumbai, February 13, 2025** – Social media influencer Ranveer Allahbadia is facing multiple investigations following a public outcry over controversial comments he made on his YouTube show, “India’s Got Latent.” The Mumbai Police have already recorded statements from seven individuals, including fellow influencer Apoorva Mukhija, in connection with the case. Allahbadia is expected to appear before the police in the coming days.

The controversy began after a video clip of Allahbadia’s remarks, deemed offensive by many, went viral. The Maharashtra Cyber Department filed an FIR against the show, prompted by a complaint from Nilotpal Mrinal Pandey of the Maharashtra BJP’s Uttar Bhartiya Morcha, who alleged derogatory language targeting persons with disabilities. A separate case has also been registered in Guwahati, Assam, leading to an Assam Police team traveling to Mumbai to assist in the investigation.

More than 40 individuals associated with the show, including host Samay Raina, have been summoned for questioning. The National Commission for Women (NCW) has also scheduled a hearing for February 17th, summoning Allahbadia, Raina, Mukhija, and other individuals involved.

Allahbadia, who boasts over 16 million followers across social media platforms, issued a video apology, claiming a lapse in judgment. However, the incident has sparked a wider debate on freedom of speech and online content regulation, even prompting discussion in Parliament. Shiv Sena MP Naresh Mhaske has called for legislation to better regulate social media.
