**Mumbai, February 13, 2025** – Comedian Samay Raina has been again asked to appear before Mumbai Police and the Maharashtra Cyber Cell regarding controversial statements made by podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia on his show. Raina, who initially claimed unavailability due to US events from February 16-20, has been instructed to appear on February 18th. His request for an extension until March 17th has been denied.
The investigation stems from a now-removed episode of Allahbadia’s podcast, which sparked outrage. Mumbai Police have recorded statements from at least six individuals, while the Cyber Cell has registered cases against over 30. Meanwhile, Guwahati Police have issued notices to both Allahbadia and fellow influencer Aashish Chanchlani, requiring their statements.
Raina preemptively removed all episodes of his show, “India’s Got Latent,” from his YouTube channel following the controversy. In a statement, he expressed his cooperation with investigating agencies and stated the difficulty of the situation, reiterating his intention was solely to provide entertainment. YouTube subsequently removed the disputed episodes following a government order. The show, which debuted in June 2024, had aired 18 episodes before the removal. The investigation continues.
