Thu Feb 13 09:10:00 UTC 2025: ## Marvel Rivals Scraps Controversial Mid-Season Rank Reset After Player Backlash

**London, UK** – NetEase Games has performed a swift about-face on its decision to implement a mid-season rank reset in its mobile game, Marvel Rivals. Just hours after announcing that players would lose four divisions in their rank on February 21st, the developers reversed course due to overwhelming negative feedback from the community.

The initial announcement sparked outrage among players, who criticized the added pressure of having their hard-earned progress wiped out midway through the season, especially considering a further six-division reset occurs at the start of each new season.

In a revised developer diary, NetEase Games acknowledged the concerns, stating that the mid-season reset created undue pressure and negatively impacted enjoyment of the competitive mode. While the season will still be divided, with rewards granted to players reaching certain ranks (Gold, Grandmaster, and One Above All) on February 21st, ranks will now remain unchanged. Players will retain their existing rank and scores. To earn new rewards, players simply need to complete 10 competitive matches and meet the relevant end-of-season conditions. These rewards include a new Gold rank costume and various Crests of Honor.

NetEase Games emphasized its commitment to player feedback, highlighting the community’s role in shaping the game’s development. The rapid response to player concerns has been praised, showcasing the developer’s responsiveness and dedication to improving the Marvel Rivals experience.
