**Patna, February 13, 2025** – Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav dismissed BJP claims of forming a government in Bihar following the BJP’s landslide victory in the Delhi Assembly elections. Speaking to the media in Patna on Thursday, Mr. Yadav asserted that the Delhi results would have no impact on Bihar, predicting that the BJP would be “thrown out” in the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections scheduled for October-November.
The BJP’s victory in Delhi, where they secured 48 out of 70 seats, has fueled speculation within the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) about replicating this success in Bihar. Several NDA leaders, including Union Minister Jitan Manjhi and Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, have voiced confidence in an NDA victory in Bihar, with some predicting over 200 seats. Choudhary even drew parallels between Delhi under AAP and Bihar under Lalu Prasad’s rule. Janata Dal (United) president Umesh Kushwaha went further, predicting an even worse outcome for the RJD than the AAP’s performance in Delhi.
However, Mr. Yadav countered these claims, confidently stating that his son, Tejashwi Yadav, would form the next Bihar government. This sentiment was echoed by Tejashwi Yadav himself following the Delhi election results.
Reactions from the ruling NDA were swift. JD(U) spokesperson Neeraj Kumar criticized Mr. Prasad, referencing his son’s past comments and predicting a resounding NDA victory with over 225 seats under Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s leadership. Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha also expressed confidence in an NDA win, further attacking Mr. Prasad’s legacy and accusing him of corruption. The political stage is now set for a fierce battle in Bihar’s upcoming assembly elections.
