Thu Feb 13 09:54:56 UTC 2025: ## Bumrah Out of ICC Champions Trophy 2025; Rana and Chakravarthy Called Up

**Mumbai, India** – A major blow has struck the Indian cricket team ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Star pacer Jasprit Bumrah has been ruled out of the tournament due to a recurring lower back injury, the BCCI announced Tuesday. Bumrah, a key member of India’s bowling attack, has been struggling with the injury since the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and missed England’s recent white-ball series in India. This marks the second time Bumrah has missed an ICC event due to back problems, having also withdrawn from the T20 World Cup 2022.

Bumrah’s absence has prompted a squad reshuffle. Harshit Rana, a 23-year-old who impressed on his ODI debut with a three-wicket haul against England, has been named as his replacement. Meanwhile, Yashasvi Jaiswal has been dropped from the squad, with in-form spinner Varun Chakravarthy taking his place. Chakravarthy, 33, has an impressive T20 record and recently made his ODI debut.

The changes come as the deadline for final squad submissions approached on February 11th. India’s revised squad will now feature Rana and Chakravarthy, while Jaiswal, along with Mohammed Siraj and Shivam Dube, will remain as non-travelling substitutes.

India begins its Champions Trophy campaign against Bangladesh on February 20th, followed by crucial matches against Pakistan on February 23rd and New Zealand on March 2nd. Despite the setback, the team will be looking to Rana and Chakravarthy to fill the substantial void left by Bumrah and Jaiswal.
