Wed Feb 12 06:14:22 UTC 2025: ## YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia Faces Backlash, Police Investigations Over Offensive Remarks

**Mumbai, India –** Popular YouTuber and podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia, known as BeerBiceps, is facing widespread condemnation and multiple police investigations following a controversial appearance on comedian Samay Raina’s YouTube show, “India’s Got Latent.” Allahbadia’s remarks during the show, which have since been removed from YouTube following public outrage and government intervention, sparked a furious backlash from netizens and politicians alike.

The controversy led to the filing of an FIR (First Information Report) with Guwahati Police, resulting in an Assam Police team traveling to Mumbai to investigate Allahbadia, Raina, and fellow panelists Ashish Chanchlani, Jaspreet Singh, and Apoorva Makhija. The Maharashtra Cyber Department has also registered an FIR and issued summonses to approximately 30 individuals associated with the show. A Mumbai Police team visited Allahbadia’s residence as part of the investigation.

The National Commission for Women (NCW) has summoned Allahbadia, Raina, and the other panelists, along with the show’s producers, for a hearing on February 17th. NCW Chairperson Vijaya Kishore Rahatkar described the language used as “obscene” and called for stricter regulations on online platforms. Several members of parliament, including Shiv Sena MP Naresh Ganpat Mhaske and BJD MP Sasmit Patra, have also voiced their concerns and called for stronger laws to control offensive online content. The All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) has demanded a ban on Allahbadia and the other individuals involved.

The controversy has prompted calls for greater accountability for online content creators and stricter regulations on platforms like YouTube. Several prominent figures have condemned Allahbadia’s comments, with some, like Punjabi singer B Praak, canceling scheduled appearances on his show. The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has also taken cognizance of the matter and directed YouTube to remove the offensive content. The incident highlights growing concerns about the regulation of online content and the potential impact of offensive material on viewers.
