**Mumbai, February 12, 2025** – Popular YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia is facing police scrutiny following a formal complaint lodged against him for offensive remarks made during an episode of the YouTube reality show, “India’s Got Latent.” Mumbai Police visited Allahbadia’s home on Tuesday, February 11, in connection with the complaint, which alleges the use of language deemed indecent and against societal norms. Assam Police also filed a case against him on February 10.

Allahbadia’s comments, made while questioning a contestant about parents and sex, sparked widespread outrage, leading to calls for a ban on his podcast and criticism from politicians, including Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. The comments also prompted the National Commission for Women to summon Allahbadia and other participants.

The All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) issued a strong condemnation, labeling the remarks as “abhorrent” and demanding a ban on the show. Lawyer Apurva, representing YouTuber Ashish Chanchlani, was also present at the Khar Police Station, where the complaint was filed, as the show’s studio falls under its jurisdiction.

Allahbadia, who boasts millions of followers across social media platforms, issued a public apology on X (formerly Twitter) on February 10, acknowledging his lapse in judgment and stating that he regretted his actions. He has also requested the removal of the offensive sections from the video. The incident highlights a growing debate surrounding the boundaries of free speech and the responsibility of social media influencers.
