Wed Feb 12 07:03:21 UTC 2025: ## Millions Take Holy Dip at Mahakumbh Magh Purnima

**Prayagraj, India** – Millions of devotees converged on Prayagraj for the Magh Purnima holy dip at the Triveni Sangam on Wednesday, February 12th, marking a significant event in the ongoing Mahakumbh 2025. Official figures estimate over 48.83 crore (488.3 million) devotees have participated in the holy bath throughout the Kumbh Mela so far. The day also saw large crowds at Ayodhya’s Saryu river, with many proceeding to the Shree Ram Temple after their ritual.

Authorities implemented extensive crowd management measures, including declaring a complete vehicle ban within the Mahakumbh area for the day. Magh Purnima also signified the end of Kalpvas, a month-long period of spiritual austerity observed by millions of devotees living near the sacred river.

The auspicious timings for next year’s Magh Purnima were released by Drik Panchang. While the event attracted pilgrims from across India, international visitors also participated, with one pilgrim from Belgium describing the experience as “beautiful and fantastic.”

Despite the massive turnout and successful crowd control efforts, nine pilgrims returning from the Kumbh Mela were killed in two separate road accidents in Madhya Pradesh.

The Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, Yogi Adityanath, extended his greetings to all participants. The Mahakumbh is set to conclude on February 26th with the Mahashivratri celebrations. Authorities anticipate a total of nearly 55 crore (550 million) visitors by the end of the event. The death of Acharya Satyendra Das, chief priest of the Ram Janmabhoomi Temple, was also reported.
